Shaw's Cove

On April 25th 1999, Scott Clark and I did a night dive in Shaw's cove, Laguna Beach. There were waves of about 2-6 feet, so the water visibility was about 10 feet. You can see the sand and such stirred up in the pictures. I was having trouble with my mask, so I did not take as many pictures as I wanted, but here they are.

A large bat ray, about a 6 foot wingspan!

A sea fan on the side of a coral head

A C-O sole is hiding on the bottom

A striped bass taking a nap

A large sea star, about a foot across

Another view of the large star, also a sea cucumber (slug?)

A small blue fish hiding in a crack with several urchins

An orange bat star.

Another bat star, this one is almost white.

A pair of brittle stars. Their arms look like little snakes.

Another color variation of a bat star.

Some pretty soft corals

Another Striped bass.

A pair of chesnut coweries.

Another cowerie, among sea fans.

A small ray, I think a thornback. He did not like the camera flash!
