Catalina aboard the Bottom Scratcher

Erik, Matt and I went to catalina on the Bottom Scratcher, a crowded slow old boat chartered through Beach Cities, so I could finish my advanced class. I only had to do one dive (the navigation dive) with the class, the other two two dives were free for pictures.

An urchin shell. This is what is under all those spines!

Experiment with close and far subjects... A little too much of the sea star.

The ever-present girabaldi on patrol

A great combo of a sea star and the kelp in the distance!
